Horde Leveling Guide

Horde Leveling Guide is a little bit different from any other WoW sites you will find around on this subject. It is more about things that are not mentioned in any other leveling guides – sort of inside view on the whole gaming process – what works and what does not work.

Before you start looking or following any horde leveling guide, think about few things that are not covered in any of those guides. I’m talking about realm selection, character selection, game play style and few social aspects that will greatly help to avoid frustration later on, after you have spent days working on leveling your WoW horde character!

First of all, before you even start playing, consider choosing your realm carefully. Why it is important? Well, you do not want to end up or either overpopulated realms – you will have to wait minutes to log into game, you will see tons of gold seller spam messages that are really annoying and any resource farming – like mining or herb gathering will change from enjoyable venture into horrid “hey, you stole my ore node” nightmare. And overpopulated realms do have high latency (lag) problems. If you choose game realm with very small player population, think that you will most likely enjoy mining and gathering professions, but will have troubles selling your wares in local auction house and, after hitting the level cap, you will have troubles gathering people for raids to endgame instances!

My advice would be picking either low or medium populated realms. You can always create new character on those realms – say you can easy make an orc or troll and run to Ogrimmar to do a little research about auction house prices, tendencies and politely ask around about questions you are interested in before you even start seriously leveling horde character. This little research will help you to avoid a lot of frustration and character moves, which are paid, later on. I will cover realm selection part in more detail in following posts on Leveling Guide Horde.

Another aspect of the WoW, that no leveling guide to horde covers, is probably The Most Important! It is character selection. While most of leveling guides will tell you to pick “a hunter” so you can level fast, but consider one thing – what will you do when you hit your level cap. And trust me, WoW is all about the end game. There are literally thousands of “hunters” to one decent tank or healer. While tanking or healing in the endgame may not seem like fun for you in the start, consider it. I highly recommend picking a hybrid character – Druid, Paladin or Shaman because they allow you to explore other aspects of game and are very very viable and highly valued in the “end game”, which WoW is all about. It is very hard to get into raiding guild with hunter or death knight while there are always spots for druids or protection paladins.

So consider these facts very carefully – you can nuke with any hybrid class  and have much fun, but there are very few spots where you can fit your pure dps character in the end. Or if you make mistake on choosing wrong realm, it will cost you monnies and cause frustration later on to move your horde to another realm. I will come back on this thought and will write in more detail about horde class selection here on leveling guide horde later on.
